Vessel #56, Redwood, Birch plywoood, and Birch, c. 1986, 4" x 16.5" diameter
This was the first bowl I made from the Hexagonal Plan. The sanding process made the plywood stand proud of the surrounding Redwood. Since there seemed no way to avoid this I oversanded the piece with a Sand-O-Flex, creating a very nice weathered texture. The oversanding worked so well I made about ten pieces of Redwood in combination with other harder woods.
